Supportive and Collaborative Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision establishes a formal process of support, reflection, learning and development that is of benefit to both newly registered and experienced health professionals by supporting their individual development.

Counsellors and psychotherapists working as members of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and other professional bodies such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) are required to engage in monthly clinical supervision. This is a mandatory requirement and there are a number of elements to the Supervisor’s role, such as checking in on the wellbeing of their Supervisee, as well as exploring the Supervisee’s counselling practice though anonymised case material, and working to ensure that that the Supervisee is practicing safely, ethically, within the limitations of their training and in the client’s best interests. Supervisors are also tasked with working to ensure that Supervisees understand their legal responsibilities and obligations within their practice

About Me

I am a qualified and experienced, NCPS Accredited registered Counsellor. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) lies at the core of my Counselling qualifications, and since qualification I have also completed training in other modalities such as Transactional Analysis, DBT, and Person Centred Theory, as well as training in areas such as Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, Grief, Bereavement, Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Violence, Neuroscience, and Self-Esteem.

Having worked online for almost 6 years, I am happy to offer supervision to those who deliver some, or all, of their work in this way. BACP and other professional bodies recommend that you access at least some of your clinical supervision in the same format as you practice as a therapist, so I am happy to offer supervision via a range of mediums to reflect the ways in which you are working.
Since beginning my counselling training in 2011, I have completed many hours of clinical work, both within organisational settings, and now within my own busy private practice. I have experience of working with clients from 5 years of age, and understand some of the pressures and conflicts that come with working with younger age groups, and within settings such as schools and charities.
My approach is collaborative with the aim of helping you to maintain best practice, and helping to ensure the safety of the clients that you are working with. I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental and supportive environment within which you feel that you can safely explore your practice.

Our growth as practitioners is also very important to me, and so the challenge offered within the safe and supportive environment that we create together, is fundamental to this. Effective supervision encourages you to reflect on your Counselling work, what has impacted you, and what you may need support with, enabling you to feel confident in your practice and development. Therefore, finding someone that feels like the right Clinical Supervisor for you, is important.

With this in mind, I offer an initial telephone consultation free of charge to anyone considering working with me. This allows us to discuss what you hope to gain from your Clinical Supervision, and how we may work together to achieve that, whilst also providing you with an opportunity to get a better idea about whether I am the right Clinical Supervisor for you to choose to work with.

I welcome enquiries from both counselling students, and qualified counsellors, and am offering a reduced appointment fee whilst undertaking the clinical hours to complete my Clinical Supervision qualification.
